FAQs
-
Do I need a reservation?I recommend booking in advance, but if it’s a last minute decision, simply meet at the starting point and join us! Cash, credit cards and Venmo accepted if you join us onsite.
-
Where do we meet to start the tour?We meet outside the main entrance of the Independence Visitor Center on Market Street.
-
How will I recognize you?I’ll be wearing a white polo shirt, visor and name badge with a red, white & blue lanyard.
-
Is there a minimum or maximum number needed for a tour?Nope, although I like to cap groups at 30.
-
Do you go inside any of the sites?Nope. I tell you what’s on the menu, you decide where to go when we’re done. All sites are experienced from the outside.
-
Does the tour start and end at the same place?Yes. Tours start and end at the Independence Visitor Center.
-
How long are the walks and how fast do we go?The walk takes 90 minutes (1½ hours). We travel at steady & comfortable pace.
-
Are your walking tours suitable for children?Absolutely! You don’t want a boring tour, and I don’t want to lead one, so I “dig for treasure” to find the truly interesting facts the other companies overlook. Do that, and everyone is fascinated.
-
Are the walking tours wheelchair and/or stroller accessible?Yes. The walking tour is accessible for both wheelchairs and strollers.
-
Are restrooms available on the walks? No, they are not. I suggest stopping in the IVC to use the restroom before beginning the walk.
-
What happens if I’m running late?I usually allow a 5 minute window before leaving to start the tour. If after that, simply find us along the route. You can’t miss me…white polo shirt, visor and loud, booming voice.
-
Can I bring my dog?I love dogs! However, only service dogs are permitted on the tour. The city is a busy place and I’d never forgive myself if something happened to your fur buddy.
-
Am I allowed to smoke or vape on the tour?I prefer that you do not, but if you must please trail the group at a distance and rejoin us when finished.
-
What happens if it rains? We keep going! Walks take place rain or shine. Lightening is the only thing that cancels a tour and a refund will be issued only if the tour has not yet started.
